Reflection On My Moodle Presentation and Changes Made After Peer Feedback.

I found that I need to make sure new students to my moodle classroom need to sign up for a login and password before classtime.  It takes around 24 hours for moodle to respond.

I changed some of my powerpoint pages to include pictures that I had already used.  I changed things around on the powerpoint once the password was obtained, and I found it to be confusing.  I went back to the original picture that I used for the login page, and I think it made my powerpoint much more user friendly.

I added audio instructions to my Powerpoint so that it could appeal to a larger learning audience.  Now my presentation is visual, kinestethic, and auditory.

Thanks to Russell and Dae for their input!

Reflection Questions for the Week of March 8th

1. In watching Dr. Bonk - there are so many tools that do the same thing...  I found myself asking.. do we have too many things going on at once..  are there problems with overlap.. are we dividing our efforts?  Will it get to the point that there are just too many things to use,and not different enough to make it worthwhile to learn?

I think that even though there are multiple websites based on the same information, nothing will ever be exactly the same.  Different people will always have different views and ideas, therefore, the information will always be used in different ways.  If websites do not change and grow, they will eventually die, but there will be another website that is able to keep up with the new information and technology, will continue to add members, and therefore thrive and grow.  I think "natural selection" of the technology infrastructure will weed out the unhealthy so that the healthy websites will survive.

2.  Dr. Bonk talked about how one person could make a difference and change the world.   How might technology enable a teacher or a person in rural Oklahoma to impact others in the world.  Make a suggestion and explain how it might have global impact? Is this realistic here?

I know that it is possible for someone in rural Oklahoma to impact others around the world, I just don't know how.  As I watched Dr. Bonk present person after person that has made huge contributions to the information and technology age, I was very overwhelmed and humbled by the prospect that I will never be one of these contributors.  I had never heard of most of the people or their products that he was talking about.  I am hoping to leave my mark on the students in my classroom.  I am planning on setting up a moodle page for all of my EOI test subjects, starting with Algebra I for this year.  My contribution, hopefully, will be that my students will be able to graduate with a diploma.

Reflection Question

Find a website that is mentioned in one of your optional books and sell it to your fellow students.  Tell why it is good and how you might use it in class.

Then this weekend.. Comment on someone else's with suggestions of other ways they can use it and suggestions for improvement.

The technology that I would love to use in my classroom in Moodle.  http://moodle.org

The following link will take you to the Moodle Demonstration Site:  http://demo.moodle.net/.  Take a look around and see what activities, resources, and administration tools are offered to help teachers set up a learning community for their students.

The following is a list of some of these activities, resources, and  administration options.
